The Boy Who Cried Wolf
The Boy Who Cried Wolf
There once was a shepherd boy, so small,
Who watched his sheep beside the wall.
The sun was bright, the sky was blue,
And he had nothing much to do.

He sat and yawned, then threw some stones,
He wished he had some friends or phones!
He thought, “I’ll play a trick today —
To make the people run my way!”
He jumped and shouted, loud and clear,
“Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is here!”
The villagers heard his frightened cry,
And ran to help — they thought he’d die!

They came with sticks and heavy rocks,
But only found the grazing flocks.
The boy just laughed, “There is no wolf!
You all believed me — silly folks!”
The people frowned and shook their heads,
“Don’t play with fear,” one old man said.
But when they left, the boy just grinned,
And thought he’d fool them all again.
Next day he called out loud once more,
“Wolf! Wolf! The beast is at my door!”
Again the people ran so fast,
To save the sheep — just like the last.

But once again — no wolf was near,
The boy just laughed and filled the air.
This time the villagers were mad,
They warned the boy, “You’re very bad!
If next time you should cry for aid,
We won’t believe — no help is paid.”
The boy felt fine, he didn’t care,
He laughed again — his heart was bare.
Then one dark night, beneath the moon,
A shadow moved — it came so soon.
The bushes shook, the sheep all cried,
A real wolf stood there, jaws open wide!

The boy screamed out, “Oh help me, please!
A wolf is here among the trees!”
He shouted loud, he cried in fear,
But no one came — no one could hear.
The wolf attacked, the sheep all fled,
The boy was filled with fear and dread.
At dawn, the fields were cold and bare,
No sheep were left — just silence there.
The boy sat down and bowed his head,
With teary eyes, he softly said:
“If only I had told what’s true,
They might have come to help me too…”

If you keep lying, people will stop trusting you — even when you tell the truth.
